Wines
We believe wine is primarily created in the vineyard.

Bardo wines are made with grapes from our own vineyards, located in a protected valley about 300m from the Adriatic sea, above Milna bay on the island of Vis, Croatia. This means we can guarantee that only healthy grapes are selected for making our wines.
The sea, together with the excellent Vagon terroir, creates an optimal microclimate allowing us to cultivate first class grapes, for
production of well balanced, high quality wines. To focus further attention on quality, Bardo produces two wines only:
The first is a dry red ‘Plavac mali’ (loved by locals and visitors alike, and distantly related to the Italian Primitivo and the Zinfandel which is so popular in the USA).

The second wine is the authentic white wine Vugava, originating from Vis.
The vineyards are organically managed by our viticultural engineer so we avoid completely the use of chemical methods of weed and insect control. The grapes are manually harvested in the autumn by family members in the local community and then delivered to our dedicated garagiste winery for immediate processing.
Wine making is done by hand operated equipment eg. we press grapes using a hand operated wooden basket press.
Bottling and labeling is also done by hand minimising the use of electrical energy.
The released wines are shown below.
As we produce limited quantities of high quality wine, we ask our Customers to confirm with the Cellar master whether their selections are in stock.
